8 Nights of Chanukah - 6 DIY Menorahs and A Bonus!

Happy First Night of Chanukah, Everyone!

Do you have your Menorah ready? No? Quick! Make one of these! All 6 of these Menorahs are made with objects that are easy to find - the hardest thing to locate would be 9 different plastic dinosaurs, but the exciting Menorah you'll end up with will make you forget all about it. In fact, make one for me while you're doing it. Oh, and p.s., the cookie one doesn't have an actual tutorial, but I trust you can figure it out. Chag Sameach, everyone! (Or, happy holiday, to my goyim friends.) Stay tuned for another special Chanukah post for the next seven nights!

And, if you don't feel like DIYing it this year, or you feel like a splurge, might I suggest purchasing this puppy:

  1. I love the look of the bottled one, and the cookies one wouldn't last a night.

A similar Catholic (some other Christian denominations) tradition is the advent wreath, but most traditions call for only 5 candles 1 each Sunday and then the 5th on Christmas Day. Older traditions call it the advent crown and little girls balanced candles and wreaths on their head(yikes!). The whole thing is Jesus is the light of the world and we wait in darkness until he arrives. Anyways I think Catholics probably stole this tradition of candle lighting from Jewish tradition to ease the transition, then again it didn't start until the 19th century so who knows where it came from.

Also menorahs are way cooler than wreaths.
